Assistant Editor | Minor Role

Being an assistant editor on Scarred Face was an incredible experience that allowed me to experiment with various editing techniques. Reviewing the footages was beneficial for me since it allowed me to take notes on each clip, which I subsequently provided to my editor to ensure that all pertinent information was used by marking the clips to speed the editing process. Throughout the editing process, we created various rough cuts of the film, and by receiving honest feedback from our crew and our tutors, we were able to improve the sequence of the film by removing unnecessary shots, which helped improve our edit.

As an assistant editor, one thing I discovered was how crucial it may be to provide proxy media files during post-production because our footage was shot in 4K, this resulted in the size of the files being heavy, and because we were using different editing suites every day. This resulted in numerous technical challenges and wasted a significant amount of time waiting for the folders to load into Adobe Premiere Pro before we could start editing.
